You Know You’re In The Suburbs When…

This actually could be anywhere, but have you ever noticed what happens to left over pizza hut buildings? They get crazy businesses in them that seem really awkward and unrelated to the cheesy Pizza Hut architecture (the stupid tinted trapezoid windows and the dumb hut roof).

Check out the Used To Be A Pizza Hut blog. It’s a really hilarious and sad trend on business in America.

The only reason this interested me is because there is one up the street from us in Eldersburg Maryland, and I’m told there have been a multitude of failing restaurants located in it. The current is a steak house. The only issue I have is this guy’s website doesn’t include it,YET…. Not until I send in a picture.

Used to be a pizza hut
This picture is old. It is now a crappy steak house called T-Bone & More. Click the image above to visit the Used To Be A Pizza Hut blog.

Eldersburg Used To Be A Pizza Hut at present.
Here is the current appearance of the Eldersburg Used To Be A Pizza Hut.

Ohhh lucky us! They’re right next door to Mr. Tire. That just makes me even more hungry.

Inside Eldersburg's used to be a pizza hut.
Notice the trapezoid windows from the inside. It seems they left the Mexican themed border across the top of the windows. Whoopsy!  Also, darn it, none of those red plastic glasses from Pizza Hut of old.

Here’s the article that started my perusal of this topic.

Health “care” in Amurka? REALLY?

BULLSHIT BULLSHIT BULLSHIT!

Here’s a nice little review…

Jefferson is horrible. All of it. Methodist and otherwise. They are never in a hurry to do anything other than bill you. The 1800-jeffnow call center people dont even want to hear you on the phone. They are rude and interrupt you and do not let you speak. They transferred me to the ER at Jefferson Methodist Hospital (where I was seen initially). The lady in the ER (who sounded distracted and not paying attention to anything) transferred me to an isolated voicemail queue that provided no out, other than to hang up and call back. (If anyone else is in this position, the call back number is: 215-955-6840).

When you are connected (in this case to jefferson methodist) there are so many people goofing off in the background that the person on the phone needs to ask for your SAME information 5 times because they are goofing off so much, they aren’t paying attention to the people on the phone.

After they finally pay attention enough to get your information correct then they will tell you “oh you are at METHODIST… THATS why I couldn’t see your information.” My response was, “Isn’t this Jefferson hospital? How many flavors of Jefferson are there? Just because you cant read each other’s data is not my problem!”

They took a throat culture from me tuesday and now its thursday. My symptoms are much worse and judging how long it took for them to find my information, they had no intention of even following through with the lab results much less contacting me. To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if they took the swabs of my throat and threw the swabs away.

THIS IS WHY PRIVATIZED MEDICINE IN AMERICA IS CRAP. All of these hospitals are more concerned about marketing and making money then they are about treating people. The whole time you are in physical agony, they are transferring you to an isolated voice mail queue or they have you on hold listening to their marketing drivel about how they are such a great provider of health care.

If you want health care, leave this god forsaken country of money grabbing opportunistic hustlers. This is what has become of America. This country and its’ health care system are a bunch of criminal selfish opportunistic hustlers.

healthcare hell

Here we go again Amurka…
Bring on the War Dance!!

I think we should take bets on how long it will take before we start killing for money again. I know chemical weapons yadda yadda yadda…

BUT SERIOUSLY…

Cut the bullshit.  Where’s the money?  There’s always god damned money!  Where’s the money on this one?  There has GOT TO BE more to it than concern for human life.  Human life is something that does not motivate the corporate wheels of Amurka.  It’s GOT TO BE SOME MONEY SOMEWHERE!

Like Dubya would say, what is the base line “strategery” here?

LIVING A LIE, FOLKS…
LIVING A LIE!!!

Here’s some music and lyric to support this:

XTC-War Dance lyrics

There’s an epidemic
Stirring passions in young hearts
Even the old campaigners
Have got it really bad
Well we ain’t seen nothing like it
Since coronation day
But when the street parties sound
I’m going underground
To keep the rabid hounds at bay
Oh my my — this war dance
A patriotic romance
No we ain’t seen nothing like it
Since coronation day
But when the tickatape flies
And blood is on the rise
You know it’s got you in its sway
You got yourself a war dance
There’s a cheap sensation
Keeping Fleet Street wide awake
Everyone wants a slice of
The jingoistic cake
And they’re resurrecting Churchill
And bringing national service back
Fueling power and glory fever
Makes for a sicker Union Jack
Yes I’m talking about this war dance
A patriotic romance
And I know all you poets
Have seen it all before
About the stirring of those young hearts
Back in the first world war
Oh my my this war dance…

and yes… I say we’ll be at war by September 11.  If not, something bad will happen that will make the MEDIA MANUFACTURED “public opinion” RACE us into war.

WATCH!

RIP George Duke, “I Need You Now”…

For those who know me, I’m a miserable person. Music is usually one of very few cures for my ailment. As I get older, the people I have grown to love and follow are falling off like flies. We lost a great one in the music of Chad today.

George Duke and a Synth
George Duke

The man was one of great Jazz keyboardists.  The news was, of course, for a musician of such talent and depth, completely muted or uninformed at best.  It was mentioned in my research that he died of complications from leukemia. This IS INDEED what is TRULY sad.  This guy was as diverse as anything could be in the musical realm.  From R&B, Jazz, Progressive, Blues, Fusion… you name it, he was legendary.  From jazz, to R&B, to soul, to pop to his work with Frank Zappa (if you’re lazy, and want to hear wicked george duke keyboards and synth, start at 6:36). It was always fun to see how Frank Zappa brought out the crazy in him:

Notice how fast he plays the keyboard and listen to what the hell he was doing with synthesizers in 1974. Amazing. He was mostly known as a song writer, keyboardist, and excellent singer (who really knew how to multitrack his own voice to perfection)… (also had a great fro)… But what most don’t know is he was a great trombone player. Listen to the trombone breaks in this, from my favorite album “A Brazilian Love Affair”:

A lot of critics accused him of pandering in the 80’s to the pop taste, but personally, I thought his music sounded more busy and jazzy than ever. Listen to the bass line in this bit… This is an underrated classic (i think).

I know I know… It’s very 80’s and really corny, but listen to the musicianship in this… The bass and songwriting mostly stick in your head like sugary glue. Good stuff… AND NOBODY COULD WORK A KEY-TAR LIKE GEORGE! And the guy has the fastest right hand on a keyboard I’ve ever seen. He put emotion and soul into an emotionless instrument, the keyboard. Truly legendary.

On a final note… His music is very positive in lyric and in tone. It has made me feel happy, good or empowered many times (this is quite a long time as I’ve been listening to him since I was 8). His latest album “Dreamweaver” is a big bag of varying style. He put it together in tribute to his wife Corine who passed away almost a year ago. It is rumored that he really took a beating from this. He comes out about it in this promo for the album.

His music is about the music which is what I like most. He doesn’t always take a vocal. Sometimes guests do all the singing. If there is one song he does that gives me goose bumps, this one is it. It’s called, “I need you now”. I dont know why, but it’s my favorite. It’s the one I enjoy the most. I like how George comes in on verse 2 and translates it all. Today…. It makes my eyes water and gives me goose bumps… I’ll miss him.

Had to add this video at a later date. THIS WHOLE SHOW BLEW MY MIND! Crank it up!

Why Do You Smoke?

Maybe you want to be a cowboy? Maybe you like to litter cigarette butts in the wild west dirt lands? Maybe you like horses? (or in my case) Maybe you have the theme to the Magnificent Seven rolling around in your head?

There are a few video’s here. Just click the forward button to the second one. This is my favorite, because you get to listen to magnificent seven while you watch the guy smoke and look really cool and bossy, then he just pitches his lit cigarette on the ground in disgust! GOD BLESS AMURKA!

1. Christmas in Marlboro country… Holidays aren’t just for booze and overeating anymore. Now you can smoke’m off.
2. My favorite one with bossy litterbug guy, and a very bold rendition of magnificent seven. Like they say, “there’s always time for a break!”
3. Cowboys at sunset. Meh! Looks like brokeback mountain set up.
4. “Morning comes to Marlboro country like the sun does..” (looks great with the coffee and the diabetic old man).
5. Julie London sings to her man in the car about his cigarettes while she drinks coffee from a porcelain cup. Totally believable. She should just shut up and sing my favorite Julie London song, “Hot Toddy”.
6. Heading for the “high?!?!?!” country?!?! what What WHAT?! Good magnificent seven on this one.
7. Where theres a man, there’s a marlboro. Really? Sexist smoking? Look george is a drug pusher. That lady is a MAN! Ralph will be ready to go when he’s done his nic fix.
8. A very touching sappy version of the magnificent seven. This guy is a major f’ing fly fishin loner. He doesn’t even care about grass stains on the ass of his pants when he lounges in the dirt. What a rebel!
9. The Marlboro man sings to you. I guess you can only smoke if you ride horses and work at the crack of dawn. Apparently snow helps too. Wow, roam rhymes with home and home rhymes with roam.

That’s it! Hope you NOW understand why you smoke.
