[Cemego]: Thought I would add to this posting.
Chris Squire was one of the most precise bass players to exist. This man was a machine. Reviews of his life don’t really show how prolific he was.

Along with Yes, and his solo album (Fish Out of Water) which is INCREDIBLE, he worked with most of Trevor Horn’s produced material (Art of Noise, Seal, Grace Jones, and Frankie Goes to Hollywood). It seems he was Trevor’s ‘go-to’ bassist. Also his bands Conspiracy (with Billy Sherwood), XYZ (with Jimmy Page), and Esquire (a band he created with his wife at the time) are not mentioned very often. He also did some writing and playing with Billy Sherwood’s band, World Trade, as well. Also, let us not forget the (imho) EXCELLENT Squackett album (with Steve Hackett from Genesis). He was the shining light of Yes, but just an incredible player all around.

This man is beyond compare on his instrument. A great loss!

Here is the first track of the Squackett (Chris Squire/Steve Hackett) album, “A Life Within A Day”. Crank this up and listen to the bass playing in the bridge/freak out section (beginning at 3:20) in the middle. For best results, dont watch the video (I think it distracts from the enjoyment of the song)… Please, just listen. He was amazing.

Here is one of my all time favorite Yes songs, “Parallels” exclusively written by Chris Squire. The video is some recording session video mixed with other bits. I think the person that cobbled the footage together and glued it to the studio recording did a passable job with it. Once again, disregard video and listen to music and especially, listen to the bass playing. It’s rockin out with a pipe organ! Too awesome!

Here he is with Billy Sherwood as a member of Conspiracy. The first song is a Conspiracy song (Days of Wonder). The last two (which are incredible) are from his solo album Fish Out of Water. This video made me smile and tear up. 3 good tracks representing a great musician.

FINALLY, at the (Prince’s Trust) Trevor Horn Tribute concert, he performs with part of Yes and Trevor does a great introduction. The introduction song (called “Cinema”) is awesome. This is a ripping set to watch and hear.

Welcome to the MTA: Please Mind the Gap

I love New York. Specifically, I love the New York Subway System! The MTA is a combination transportation system, multicultural carnival and general Thunderdome of shit, specifically designed to test your person-hood and your patience at every turn by bombarding you with pure bullshit.

Speaking of bullshit, we turn to our video clip, where we see a patron of the Subway, barely dressed, as a bumblebee, Folks, I’ve been to 3 State Fairs, a Goat Rodeo and several overseas brothels and I must say that I’ve NEVER…. EVER seen anything that compares to this.

He’s good. He’s doing kicks. He dips and dances and moves like a pro. It looks like he spends most of his time onstage doing drag. He can also carry a tune: doing his own rendition of LMFAO’s “I’m Sexy And I Know It”. He gyrates. He booty pops for the crowd. They love him. They are his people. Absolutely mesmerizing, eh? In that costume all I can think of is that old-school subway warning: “Please Mind The Gap”

Now before any more vomit builds up in my throat, it’s been suggested the guy is high out of his mind. I can’t really speculate what drugs he may be on, if any at all. Perhaps we should ask the little EIGHT YEAR OLD CHILD who’s getting a fucking eyeful right there in his front row seat to this shit spectacle. Maybe that kid saw him do some drugs. Maybe not. Either way, …he’s sexy and he knows it.
