UPDATED! DC Sucks! Let’s Count The Ways…(NOW With Mike O’meara Show audio)
UPDATE (6/5/2015): The legendary and monolithic Mike O’meara Show podcast read this blog post on their podcast. I was driving with MsNeeBo to Atlantic City, NJ for the weekend and heard this while driving on the Black Horse Pike. I nearly had a heart attack! Here we go with the list so far… Feel free to add in comments! NO REPEATS! (I may do another list for MD and VA as some of these issues leach over into both states).
- Bad traffic
- Rude opportunistic people
- Poor work ethic
- Everyone thinks they’re entitled i.e., “Dont you know who i am?!!”
- The food sucks
- Not a single good pizza in all of DC, MD or VA
- Yes washington dc sucks, but MD and VA are definitely contributors to the suck.
- Extremely high prices.
- One of the most expensive nights on the town.
- Nights on the town suck.
- The subways dont go to places, they go to parking garages and office buildings and businesses that close at 5.
- The parking police are high (literally. They cant even correctly type a license plate number, and they fine you for legally parking your vehicle thus sending you to court to fight a stupid ticket).
- The people are completely incapable of driving correctly.
- (Because of Maryland drivers) everyone drives in the left lane and makes right hand turns from it.
- (Because of Virginia) everyone drives with their turn signal on when not turning and drives entirely too slow.
- Extremely high taxes (for infrastructure that sucks).
- (probably mostly a maryland thing but) The power goes out a lot.
- (probably a virginia thing but) Full of racist evil conservative religious zealot republicans.
- The zoo is lame.
- The water tastes really bad.
- The weather sucks (no spring or fall, goes right into winter/summer).
- Stinky nasty humidity all summer and the air rarely moves.
- The subway is extremely expensive.
- The subway is extremely dirty.
- The subway is extremely slow and inconsistent.
- The subway is ugly (no! it is not beautiful… and who cares how it looks when it is always delayed or broken down).
- The subway is just plain dangerous.
- The radio stations suck (all pop and political / sports talk).
- Too many alcoholic rich people (who act like idiots).
- Overcrowded (and they just keep building overpriced housing to bring in the rich entitled douche bags).
- Not enough grocery stores to match the population (so they’re always out of stuff).
- Some people are stupid enough to be proud to live here.
- It is not a city, it is a facility.
- It is not “world class” it is “world ass”. Everyone from all over the world comes here to be an overpaid asshole!
- It’s too far from an ocean.
- It’s like living with an international terrorist target on your ass.
- Unsafe on a local and international level.
- Too many police forces covering too small of an area and still crime is rampant and it isn’t safe at all.
- The general public in DC is really stupid. (Proof: They have an announcement on the Metro that instructs the public how to use the ESCALATOR).
- The traffic circles are not beautiful or helpful. They just plain suck.
- The design of the city is meant only for horses.
- All of DC, MD, and VA are built for cars ONLY yet they claim to be pedestrian friendly.
- Nobody cares about their local sports teams (the fans aren’t fans, they just think it’s a night out on the town and they dont care if their teams win or lose).
- Their sports teams suck.
- The beltway is a useless parking lot.
- There is no effective way to access DC from the north.
- Highest rent (you might as well live in NYC. At least you would have some entertainment value for the high prices).
- Their baseball stadium is ugly and looks like a prison from the outside.
- The DC opened a trolley system that doesn’t take any passengers, yet runs 24/7 and clogs up traffic. This is not some sick joke. It really exists and does nothing!!
- Their football stadium for their team isn’t even in their city (The Laurel, Maryland Redskins).
- Their football team has a racist offensive name.
- The river that runs through the city is disgusting and stinky and stagnant (BOTH OF THEM: potomac and anacostia).
- The subway has so many stops and no express (so it takes forever to get to anywhere – if the subway actually WENT somewhere).
- The subway only has 2 tracks (so if a train breaks down its a disaster for the entire system, and it happens daily).
- Income disparity is disgusting. (Probably a Maryland thing but, slums on one side of the street, and mansions on the other).

A lovely posting on the community social network. This is funny. I could see this turning into a total catty pompous ‘bitch-off’. I can see it now, “OH MAH GOD! SOMEONE HAS LEFT DOG DOODY UNDER THE DOOR HANDLE OF MAH BOYFRIENDS BEEEMER..”
You live in a MFDU (multi family dwelling unit). You dont like it, go to them and address them about it. Dont passively bitch on the posting board. Can we get more juvenile? I have a problem with the halls being loud, I email the management and they send out a neighborhood reminder. This person is going ass kicking personal.

Ever realize how much taxpayer money is dumped into the already inflated NFL coffers? Not a fan of the NFL and yet you pay taxes for it! A lot of taxes! Mad yet?
Cant fund programs for the poor? Cant help the disabled? Cant treat and cure disease? BUT WE PAY THIS MUCH FOR THE NFL?!?!?!

The Way We Were…
Let’s see where we are now…. A whole new congress under new republican power.
Let us now review where we were 6 years ago (2008) (according to Independent Senator from Vermont Bernie Sanders):
- Healthcare only for the rich
- Two wars going on (losing combat troops every week).
- More people living in poverty than anytime in American history.
- More wealth inequality.
- Financial system on verge of collapse.
- Losing 700,000 jobs a month
- 1.4 Trillion dollar deficit (the largest in history).
What the new republican congress will do:
- Go after social security (privatize).
- Go after Medicare (de-fund).
- Major cuts in federal education aid.
- Major cuts in nutrition aid.
- Major cuts in environmental protection.
- Huge tax breaks for the wealthy and large corporations.
What a wonderful world to look forward to. Go ahead, ask me why I shorten my life by smoking!
Life Lesson #5472-Never Email When Angry
I did something today that I think will burn me. I came out to Emily’s Government teacher. Or almost. At this point, I probably should not give a shit anymore…but its hard for me not to.
I am involved with this lawsuit:
I chose to remain silent to protect my family and also because I am the only plaintiff that has a child in the public school system here… But part of my reasoning for joining the suit was the encroachment of one type of religious belief onto our school system when these Commissioners starting under funding or cutting environmental and science programs out of the public school budget, all while setting up $500,000 slush funds for people who CHOSE to send their children to parochial or home school them. Two of the Commissioners can take part in milking this fund because they elected not to send their children to public school.
I blogged about it with my “County Destroyer” post a while back, but I took the post down so defense’s council could not throw it back in my face cause they tried to do that with another plaintiff in the case. Yeah. Freedom of Speech only applies to those that agree with you…
Long and short end of it: We won. SC ruled. Federal Judge dismissed order. We refiled suit citing differences between cases and why elected officials are not invited unpaid clergy. Judgment still pending…

A Student’s Letter to Commissioner Frazier.
This student goes to the same high school as my daughter. No one at Liberty knows her mother is a plaintiff in the lawsuit-not even the Government teacher, who commented about our case in class this semester. Notice Mrs. Frazier’s passive/aggressive insult to the public school system. Why? Because teachers are not teaching this:

This made my blood boil, and I made the mistake of sending an email to my daughter’s Government teacher at Liberty today, with the link to Mrs Frazier’s blog about the letter to her from the student, along with the links I have posted above. I told him I was proud that my child had taken his course, and the fellow student who wrote the letter was in the public school system and was not afraid to stand up to tyranny or practice his civil duty. I also did tell him that more people needed to know the truth about where these ideas are coming from and hopefully there will be a change in the next election. But if it swings in the favor of these people, and similar ones who want to take what little rational representation we have away, then I’ve already supplied him with the link to the re-education learning course.
I did not go into as to why we as the 3rd highest taxed county in the State of Maryland, with a median income of $80,000 per year, are having budget issues with our public school system… Nor did I even mention religion.
I suppose I can skirt the issue by saying it is “Lauren” who is the malcontent atheist, and not Denise is just Emily’s mom. LOL. Truth is, I am tore up that I may hurt my daughter in some way. How can I trust that this teacher is not having to suppress his white pride Constitutional views as well?
Emily has this week left of school and then she never has to step in the Government trailer for class again. Why did I not just think of that before I hit send. Fuck. Oh well. Let it not be said that I never tried to stand up for something.
I just have to learn to not let these things upset me as much…perhaps a crayon shoved up the nose would work? I have to remember, that this county is in fact Thunderdome.
