Another Interview with Musical Genius!
Another interview of a FAVORITE music producer. Trevor Horn of Buggles, Art of Noise, ABC, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and a million other wonderful 80’s band speaks out about the artists he’s worked with, how difficult it was to make music before sequencers, and the trouble with buying weed in south africa.
A long but fun ride through the 80’s music scene and an early synthesizer pioneer with comical anecdotes and brilliant insights to music production and the music industry. It’s a long ride, but quite rewarding!

Great Moments in Parenting #56,849
Last night just for a change while Emily was doing her homework, we decided to watch a program which showcased 80’s videos. It started good…with ELO’s Mr. Blue Sky (which is one of Emily’s favorite songs-altho the vintage Jeff Lynn sent her for a loop) but then it got really good-with “Once in a Lifetime” David Byrne and his “same as it ever was” seizure dancing…but the cherry on the top was this:
She actually liked David Bowie and thought the drag reveal at the end was cool, but passed on Heart’s “These Dreams” which I was proud of her for cause that song is a stinker. After the Cyndi Lauper’s She Bop video (which she thought the tune was catchy…but did not figure out the lyrics…thats another talk) She said “Mommy, what was up with these people? Is this really how your generation’s music was? These people are freaks!” To which I just said two words-Justin Bieber. “Ahh…touche Mommy…”
I must be doing something right.
ps-Happy Birthday Will ;p

UPDATED WORDPRESS TODAY! Testing a New MP3 Player plug-in!
To simply create a player for a track you upload to the media library:
- Decide on the mp3 you wish to upload.
- On the sidebar, click Media.
- Click Add New.
- Upload the mp3 from your computer to the media libary. NOTE: The mp3 must be under 8 megs or 8,000 k.
- VERY IMPORTANT: After it uploads, MAKE NOTE OF FILE NAME. The uploader WILL change the filename. You want to make a note of how it changed (Ctrl-C – copy it somewhere). Here’s an example of what it did to me: The file on my hard drive is named as follows:TV Toons-Rockford Files.mp3The filename you must call is listed on this screen as (notice the location of the dashes):TV-Toons-Rockford-Files.mp3
- Create your new post to hold the player. Using the song above I will enter the text WITHOUT QUOTES (but definitely with the brackets) into the HTML editor:
TA DAAAAH! It’s that easy (somewhat).
Here’s the same thing but in a nifty “customizable” player.
The code for that looks like this:
This plug in will allow you to create customizable playlists (provided all your media is uploaded), adjust volume, and a bunch of other neato things. I just think it’s nice to actually play something from the blog rather than have people download it to play it.
Here’s the link for the instructions
Here’s a playback link to WMOM.
