Wow! So much time has passed since the 2015 release Hozpitality-To Go. There has been a lot of moving around and acquisition of new noise making devices and volunteering of new noise making people.
As you know, Hozpitality is a collective. Anyone who wants to make sound and record may do so. Since moving the “Hozpitality Home Studio” around a lot, more people have come on board. They will be listed in the Personnel List below.
Track List:

MsNeeBo (Eriyyka BaDont, Gloria Snatch): Vocals, Lyrics, Insane Laughter

Ableton Live 9 Suite (too cheap to upgrade to 10!)
A bunch of free .VST files from the Internet

Korg Kaossilator Pro
Korg Mini-KP (red box)

As always, we aren’t getting rich on this, so comments and opinions of this are welcomed/encouraged on this blog.
Hozpitality thanks you and wishes you a Happy Beach Week.
Another hit by Hozpitality. A real gem of a ditty. Could be the greatest song ever written, many people have said so.
Scott Walker (the singer not the politician) is one of my favorite musicians. He passed away yesterday (March 25, 2019) to very little fanfare. This is typical for my musical taste. The people I laud as ground breaking and genre bending get relegated to the small print in most websites. The people that they have influenced get the big headlines. If you don’t know who Scott Walker is, click here.
Scott Walker’s music has had an influence on my taste and music production experience. He comes off as smug and arrogant but he makes a lot of sense. Most know of my frustration with the overrated deification of singers in modern music. It is not to say that there is no talent required to be a singer, it is just that there is too much emphasis on the human voice as an instrument in modern “pop” music. I captured an interview snippet of him talking about what it is like to work with singers. I COULDN’T AGREE MORE.
Added the video because I love the song. Listen in headphones or speakers with vast separation.
This track started about 4 months ago with just some drum loops I programmed. I stumbled over it this evening at 9pm and I stayed at it till 2am until I finally had enough. I actually played some relatively bad bass guitar on this. I think I drowned it out with other bass lines so you cant tell how bad I am.
The WTOP traffic report was thrown in as a distraction. As always, I found a phrase or two that sounds funny when trimmed and repeated. This adds to the pointless lyrics.
Here’s what I used:
Ableton Live (of course)
Addictive Keys Plug-in (for the piano)
Bass Guitar
Korg Kaossilator Pro (for the crazy drum solo bridge)
Korg MicroKorg (sounds and vocoder)
WTOP Traffic Report
This is something I did completely live with no software synths, editing, or processing done afterwards… I just hit record and started making noises.
Volca bass, beats, and keys
Kaossilator Pro
MicroKorg
Korg Mini-KP (red box)
I was just running around the table making noises for 32 minutes. If you don’t make it through all 32 minutes, I wont be hurt.
This is just how I’m doing my time. I’ll probably mince this up and use it somewhere.. in teeny weeny pieces.
By the way, sntjab ibaw means:
“simply needed to jam a bit, its been a while”
This is my second solo album. This collects everything I’ve done throughout the “year of personal hell” known as 2017. This collection includes use of the Novation Launchpad. I really tried to work more with phrasing (probably too much) where everything is more structured and looped. This probably makes things more cold and clinical, but you have to learn sometime. There is one long track that was a jam session with little planning (Track 13-Air Head Full of Fluff). Everything else was looped, overdubbed, or (vaguely) planned with soloing on top. Some tracks were never posted on this blog (marked with an *). This, of course, is to gyp listeners into downloading an album of tracks to hear 3 for the first time. Here’s the run down/liner notes.
Here’s the 59 meg zip file of all the tracks and the cover! Enjoy!
As always, maximum enjoyment can be achieved by listening in a car or in headphones.
FYI: The first solo album “Cemego… It Alone” can be found here.
And just for a peek into my sordid life, here’s a picture of the stuff that makes all this magic possible.
Had the start of this laying around on the hard drive for months. It was improvised with no clicks (BPM setting). The phone beep/rhythm was done on the Kaossilator pro first live with fingers (no real looping). The strings were made with the MicroKorg. I added the upright bass, some “angelic” type synth vamp and, one of my favorite things, far away piano. Put a few little phasing effects on a few things (including the upright bass) so it travels around the speakers. Suddenly it was BOOM! MAGIC!
Hope you enjoy and it puts you in another place.
Here’s a song for something we all know. It’s a song about parking, traffic, and driving. Bob doesn’t know what an Oxford comma is but he will learn someday. Maybe after 10 minutes of listening to Guest Parking? Maybe you can learn something toe?
Hope you like it. Use headphones!
Completely jive and pointless lyrics below!
Now the next step is picking a spot for parking
So lets pick a spot first
Lets say we want to park here
So whatever spot you pick for parking
You want to count that spot as number
ONE.
Then you drive forward to the next spot
And count that spot as number
TWO.
Then you drive up one more spot
And count that spot as number
THREE.
Don’t worry I’m not gonna take you back to kindergarten
And make you count up to
HUNDRED.
Fa fa fa fa…
