The Continuing Audio Saga of Job Hunting in Amurka (aka Halloo Meester Glabeeyl): Episode #1

I have decided to start recording my potential job “Whoppertunities®”.

This is the first of hopefully many audio bits of recruiters calling me with job opportunities. Essentially, they are the people who will be representing me to my future dream employer. I suppose this IS the best person to do that. (Sigh). Odds are, well, I’m still looking for work….

Our first contestant in this series needs some serious slowing down or something. I like how long it takes her to find my name on the prostitute du jour list.

Here she is a little slower. Try not to laugh, I laughed it all out!

And, just to show I care, here she is SLOW but with a funky beat for no particular reason.

More to come… Get all excited! Any ideas, or comments? I’m all in!

Hozpitality Preview? PIANO BUBBLES!

Found a new VST (virtual synthesizer template) called “KRUUD” (I am hoping it is not pronounced like “crud”) that had a really nifty arpeggiator where you can discreetly control the keys after the initial note.  Hard to explain but cool to hear.

I added on some reverb and delay thanks to the LiquidVerb VST, and I recorded it in Audition (no overdubs, thats why it is more pleasant noise than music) and added a nifty stereo panner/swapper effect before mix-down.

Is this totally neato or what?

Hozpitality UPDATE! – Tentative Song Collection Leaked…

Yup, we’re leaking information on the Hozpitality release like an old lady with bladder problems. This will be Hozpitality’s LARGEST RELEASE YET. A DOUBLE STUDIO ALBUM with bits of audio culled from the past 3 years that fell on the digital floor.

Here is the completed track list so far with durations. The plan is to add more material. Titles are TOTALLY subject to change by official release time (and they will more than likely be changed). We still haven’t agreed on an album title but here’s what we have so far:

FINALIZATION OF THIS NEW MASTERPIECE ALBUM TO HAPPEN ON SATURDAY FEBRUARY 9, 2013. If you feel you haven’t been adequately represented on this release, or have more audio input to add, this date will be your last chance.

Something Exciting is Coming Soon

We have 9 tracks completed and counting. This is going to be a biggy! Now is the time to get excited. This one has all new material (of course), new obscure references, more talented input from new members, new toys, new plumbing, better (lack of) planning, and more of what you require for 2013. The sound altering collective has expanded beyond metaphysical limits to bring you a new jaw dropping 3D HD DBX MX ULTRA SUPER WITH WINGS collection of audible action, destined to beautify, baffle and other words that begin with “b”.

You have been warned!

Sixth Release (Third EP) from Hozpitality!!!

Music that had to be made… and QUICKLY (as usual, the speed of creativity being a major ingredient to the Hozpitality formula). (Yes, that is dangerously tan Justin Bieber flipping off Mitt Romney… Thank you!)

Now if you live in America, you know this next song,
Tap it, tap it in thats a zinger,
And tell me how to poke it on Tuesday,
Dang no one’s happy.

DEBUT Release from Hozpitality Ambient Spin-Off: CHOB!

CHOB = Chad and Bob.

C H O B

I had this idea, which came from the first track on this album, to create more music that sounds like the following:

  • Ambient
  • Space
  • Chill
  • New Age
  • Lullaby Channel
  • Massage music
  • Sound Collage
  • “Hold that chord and wait for a record contract”
  • and Atmosphere

Bob and I have many years of exposure to this type of music and thoroughly enjoy it as a unique and special artform.  We wanted to make some music that didn’t start from or required a rhythm section.  To be honest, there are a few drum tracks on this album, but they were intentionally moved to the back of the mix to make room for the sonic palette on display for these tracks.  There is no mistaking the quality of the sounds in the musical toys/instruments we use, and we wanted to have fun putting these on display a little more.

So there are no vocals/lyrics, and there’s not a lot of “hot driving dance beats”.  This is more of an exploration of the sonic “colour” in our heads and our devices.  The first track, “Egyptian Forward”, was the inspiration to start this journey.  To make a bookend, a portion of “Egyptian Forward” was segmented and shortened.  The left channel of this track was reversed while the right side moves in a forward direction, hence the title “Egyptian Crossing”.  (I personally loved the original track so much I thought it sounded good backwards too!)

Never enough credit goes to Bitchin Bob for editing genius, insight/perspective, and laughs o’plenty.  I swear we both learn more about the tools of this trade every time we do this stuff.  Learning has never been so much fun!

Track list:

  1. Egyptian Forward (3:23)
  2. From The Treetop (7:49)
  3. Pur Heaven (4:37)
  4. Dinosaur Suite (6:29)
  5. Egyptian Crossing (1:28)

Tools used:

  • Korg Kaossilator Pro
  • Korg Kaossilator
  • Korg Mini-KP
  • Adobe Audition (“What?  Are we crashing now?”)

** You can’t charge money for this much fun, and it truly is fun making this stuff. As always, the best compensation for this effort would be any sort of comment left here on this blog. CHOB thanks YOU (because your comments are Pur Heaven).

NEW! BIG NEWS!  Hozpitality fans have a reason to live.  The follow up to Hozpitality’s 5th album Toddler Sized Shark Cage is coming SOON!  REMAIN CALM!

Fifth Release from Hozpitality!!

This was a collaborative effort, which is the cornerstone of Hozpitality, to incorporate new creative techniques with a few new gadgets. Technology is a wonderful thing, great (and somewhat silly) minds make technology better. Once again, a lovingly slapped together assemblage of “heightened musical vignettes”.
