Point/Counter Point AKA all politicians are complete douchebags

Here is the speech that our now illustrious president gave as a Freshman Senator during the 2006 debt limit increase debate:

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

Fast forward to 2011 now that the “community organizer” is POTUS.

Failure by Congress to raise the U.S. debt limit “could plunge the world economy back into recession,” President Barack Obama declared Friday, and he acknowledged that he must compromise on spending with Republicans who control the House to avoid such a crisis.

So this brings up two possible scenarios, neither of which give me any confidence in the “Most Powerful Man in the World.”

  1. Our president, who’s resume reads as one time community organizer and one term senator (who spent the majority of time campaigning for the presidency) really doesn’t know anything about economics, macro, or micro and was doing nothing more than giving lip service to the American people and grand standing for the Democrats, or…
  2.

  3. Our Hope and Change President has been given a full frontal lobotomy like all other politicians and is now caving in to special interests and those that fill his pockets with the almighty dollar. This full on douchnozzle now talks out of both sides of his mouth like all of his predecessors before him and seemingly has a bit of white trash in him. “Hey, I still have checks left so I must have money!”
  4.

If I ran my business like the Federal government my doors would have been shuttered long ago. The bottom line is this: If you don’t have the money in the account YOU CANNOT SPEND IT!!!!!!! Tough choices must be made and that is what the majority of Americans elected this man to do.

Once again, our democracy has failed us.

  1. I totally agree with this article. The only thing I would have to add, is that all this corruption, greed, over-spending happened under the watch of ONE (1) political party during the 40 years of my life. That party was/is known as the “Republican” party.

Now it seems, if you shit all over everything, run away and bitch that it’s shitty, this does NOT make you blameless. For those of us who are actually watching closely, see very clearly who shit there in the first place. Problem is, they (the people who shit there in the first place) don’t want to get their hands dirty cleaning up their own mess. So some poor schmuck, known as the “Democratic” party always comes in and cleans up the shit and takes the blame. This is what I have noticed in the 40 years of my life reading the news and watching politics.

So, in summary, a lot of douche baggery all around… Also tons of dick headery!

  2. Right on Chris!

All the douches talk out of both sides of their asses!

I was happy that POTUS actually for once sounded like he had a set a balls vs an ineffective figure head. However, when I see the likes of Ryan, Santorium, etc. jumping on the Tea Party bandwagon espousing a 180 view of spending, after I watched those same douche bags on C-SPAN during the Bush years have no problem using their rubber stamps and raising the debt ceiling and our deficit, I take issue. (Do you remember the 30 Something Democrats group on C-SPAN that had the big rubber stamp they would bring out on the floor because the Republican controlled house approved all spending bills put in front of their faces with no care for the long term?)

I too have an issue with the debt ceiling being raised…Its like if you exhausted all your credit and went to the bank wanting more credit, but no increase in income being paid into the debit or assets to cover said debit…You would be laughed out the bank door…

Makes no sense. How is this beneficial to the country? How is the constant flipping on both sides beneficial?

It is ashame that WE as taxpayers, voters, etc, are subject to the extreme sides from both parties running the way WE do business here. The amount of misinformation that is spewed down all of OUR throats on a daily basis, is nothing short of a scene from the movie They Live.

In order to change the culture in Washington on BOTH sides of the fence, you need to change the SOP (standard operating procedure). Special interest groups, earmarks, lobbyists, corporation/non profit campaign donations, religious dogma, need to have no place in the way OUR country is run. Former members of congress should NOT be able to leave their jobs and work as lobbyists or be made VP’s of defense contractors. And it should not cost millions of dollars to be able to run and win positions in congress. Take the money and perks out of it and give us a level playing field. Make it so when these people are voted in office, they are held to those standards and not bought and paid for when they walk through the door. Make it so the system can’t cause them to reverse their platforms…

Common sense dictates what the most obvious choice must be, however common sense does not apply in DC. Remember 1 in 2 of OUR reps in congress make more then $1 million dollars a year. How can they relate to the average American they represent? How can they pass laws in the best interest of all they serve? How can they not be sucked into the greed? Take the greed out of it.

The whole system from top to bottom is corrupt, and until the time comes when the majority of Americans wake up, clean out the ear wax of misinformation, and demand a new way of doing business that doesn’t not resemble an elephant, a donkey, or a cup of tea, things will never “change”.
